Presentation

Ignore what my passport says. I’m from a lot of places and from nowhere in particular. I’ve lived, studied, and worked in 5 countries – Spain, Belgium, England, Mexico, and the US. From each I’ve taken something and made it my own. Culture, food, music, lifestyle, experiences, languages, they’re all part of me. The most significant thing I gained from this nomadic childhood is being a native speaker of both English and Spanish. Both languages are the same for me – I speak, think, read, write, listen and dream in the two.
Sometimes in French as well.

After studying Economics at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, I came to Spain in December 1990. For over 25 years, I worked in a series of sectors and companies, most with an international focus and lots of travelling (which I love to do). Things happened, and somewhere in my 40s I reinvented myself. I decided to take my experience and know-how and combine it with an English teaching certification
(TEFL/TESOL) to become a Business English specialist.

A bit later, I added exam preparation for the TOEFL, FCE, and CAE exams to my range of services, and then became certified as a Cambridge Speaking Examiner for the FCE and CAE. And along the way, I also decided to help Spanish high school students navigate the long and complex admissions process for US universities, especially the writing part. Lastly, I’ve just finished the certification course on Teaching Academic English
with the TOEFL iBT® Test.

Oh, and back in 2021, my e-book, “The Perfect Personal Statement”, was published.

Cristina
(Acciona)

What I would highlight about Monica is that she adjusts perfectly to your schedule, and always motivates you to improve your English. She even adapts your “homework” to the time you have available outside class.

Monica’s classes are extremely dynamic. She structured classes according to my objectives and I quickly saw improvement in my speaking skills.

The most popular exams

Business english

With globalization, language proficiency is essential for certain work sectors, especially in business, where there are five distinct areas where the use of English is essential.

Business communication

The two areas of communication where knowledge of English is vital are written (emails, reports, and messages) and verbal (meetings, presentations). Even non-verbal communication has English as a reference.

Marketing and advertising

English is the international language in this sector, especially for e-commerce. Thanks to the Internet and social media, slogans, branding, messages, and audiences are global, and they are usually in English.

Sales and customer service

With globalization, English is used in many transactions and deal-making, and any company doing international business must ensure customer service is available in English.

Talent Acquisition

With the advent of remote work, companies have employees and collaborators all over the world. Recruiting and managing global talent means English is the working language for many professionals.

Finance and Accounting:

Multinationals use English as the reporting language, and budgets, investments, and financial planning are usually presented in 2 languages. Financial teams must be able to communicate clearly and efficiently in English.
